What are peptides in skincare?

Peptides naturally occur within our skin. A short chain of amino acids, peptides are called polypeptides when that chain gets longer. Peptides serve as the building blocks for proteins. For example, collagen (the most abundant protein in our bodies — and a critical one for healthy skin) consists of three polypeptide chains.
