Alan Widgerow Appointed Chief Medical Officer of Alastin Skincare, Inc.


CARLSBAD, CA — November 30th 2015— Alastin Skincare, Inc.—a specialty skincare company dedicated to developing and marketing innovative, clinically-tested skincare products that enhance, protect, and maintain healthy skin for a lifetime—today announced that it has appointed Alan Widgerow, MBBCh (MD); MMed (MHS); FCS; FACS, to the newly created position of Chief Medical Officer. In this role, Dr. Widgerow oversees the scientific research, non-clinical and clinical programs for the Company's expanding pipeline of skincare products.

Dr. Widgerow completed his undergraduate and post-graduate studies at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa. He has held various positions in numerous academic and professional associations including that of President of the Association of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery of Southern Africa (APRSSA). He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and was appointed Honorary Professor by the Senate of Wits University in 1999. He is author of over 130 plastic surgical related publications and 2 books.

 After 20 years in private plastic surgical practice in South Africa, Prof Widgerow relocated to Irvine California in Dec 2009 to pursue his interests in research, medical device innovations and wound care, but he still plays an active role in academic medicine world-wide. In August 2012 he joined the University of California Irvine Plastic Surgery Division as Adjunct Full Professor and Director of the Center for Tissue Engineering (CTE). He has redesigned and introduced major Research projects to the CTE Lab and is involved in collaborative efforts with major Institutions seeking to further translational science. He has recruited a team of 20 researchers and runs a vibrant, dynamic research facility at UCIMC.
