Which Beauty Products Should I Pack for my Next Vacation?
Must-Have Beauty Travel Essentials
Packing light is easier said than done.
Some are masters at it (enter: Katey Howley of the Minimalist Wardrobe and Holly Goes Light, an expert lifestyle minimalist we can all aspire to!). In fact, if you’re looking for real inspiration, check out her recent post on How to Pack for a Weekend Getaway: 1 tote bag, 6 pieces, 10 outfits.

But what about your beauty stash? This conundrum often poses an extra element of complexity, particularly if you’re getting on a flight. As many of your beauty products are liquids, you have to consider the TSA regulations, let alone the fact that liquids can quickly add weight to your carry-on and who wants to lug around a heavy bag when you’re trying to look effortless travel-chic?
Travel Beauty Essentials
As a refresher, and handy reference, here are the TSA rules for liquids.
So, challenge extended.
It can be done, trust us! To start, here are our tips for toiletries that are worthy of making the cut:
- Toothbrush + toothpaste
- Shampoo bar (haven’t heard of these? check out Elle’s list of the best shampoo bars on the market, great for travel!)
- Nail clippers and/or nail file
- Contacts + solution
- Face wipes (we love these from NuFACE because they are individually packed so you can easily stash 3-4 in your bag and they are multipurpose as a makeup remover, cleansing, and exfoliating face wipe)
- Hand sanitizer
Now we acknowledge that there is a wide range of perspectives on what are the must-haves to travel with when it comes to makeup and cosmetics, so we’re going to stick to the basics and let you build from there based on your personal preference and style.
Makeup Travel Essentials:
- Black Eyeliner
- Face powder or foundation
- Chapstick or lip gloss/stick
When it comes to your skincare however, it should not take a vacation. Even when you’re on vacation.
