Must-Have Beauty Travel Essentials
Packing light is easier said than done.
Some are masters at it (enter: Katey Howley of the Minimalist Wardrobe and Holly Goes Light, an expert lifestyle minimalist we can all aspire to!). In fact, if you’re looking for real inspiration, check out her post on How to Pack for a Weekend Getaway: 1 tote bag, 6 pieces, 10 outfits.

But what about your beauty stash? This conundrum often poses an extra element of complexity, particularly if you’re getting on a flight. As many of your beauty products are liquids, you have to consider the TSA regulations, let alone the fact that liquids can quickly add weight to your carry-on and who wants to lug around a heavy bag when you’re trying to look effortless travel-chic?

The Best Skincare and Beauty Tips from Beauty Blogger & Travel Guru Catarina from New York Fashion Week
It’s so easy to neglect your beauty and skincare routine while traveling. There are schedules to juggle, sights to see, new foods to try, and of course, epic photos to be taken.
Recently, we chatted with beauty blogger and travel guru @WheresCatarina of Instagram, while she was at New York Fashion Week to get her best skincare tips for maintaining her healthiest skin and that Insta-worthy glow even on-the-go.
5 Skincare Travel Tips from Beauty Blogger Catarina
1. Repeat after us: "Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!"
Drinking plenty of water will help keep your skin hydrated during those long flights. Try to consume a liter of water for every fourhours even while you’re in the sky; you may have to bug your seatmates to make frequent trips to the restroom, but your skin will thank you, both in the short-term and long-term!
2. Keep An Eye Out for Travel-Induced Puffiness
It’s difficult to get quality rest while traveling, and particularly during the flight en-route; whether you’re stuck in the middle seat, your seatmate insists that the overhead lights stay on, or you’re freezing from the blast of the AC - you'll likely to arrive at your destination tired.
The solution for looking well-rested regardless is a good eye cream. Since the skin around your eye is extremely delicate, it's the first place likely to show any signs of stress or fatigue (like puffiness bought on by cabin pressure or dark circles from lack of sleep).
I use ALASTIN Skincare Restorative Eye Treatment to help rejuvenate the skin around my eyes while I'm traveling (and even at home!); I apply one pump in the morning and another one in the evening for best results.
3. Of course, daily SPF is a must!
To protect your skin in the long-run, daily use of sunscreen is the most basic skincare regimen you can employ.
I use ALASTIN Skincare SPF 30+ Sunscreen to keep me from burning when I am out in the sun for hours. Apply at least 15 minutes before going out for the day, and be mindful of re-applying throughout the day as you go about your travel adventures.
4. Cleansing your skin should not be a once-daily thing
Clean your face multiple times a day if you can; there’s nothing worse than smelling like an airport. I like to freshen up en-route by using make-up removing wipes to gently cleanse and remove dirt, oil, and makeup.
In the morning and at night, I use ALASTIN Skincare’s Gentle Cleanser, which is perfect for normal or sensitive skin.
5. Spritz like you mean it!
Nothing feels quite as lovely as a refreshing spritz with rose water to keep your skin feeling hydrated. A few spritzes to dress your skin can really change your day. Plus, the mist improves your skin’s barrier to the environment and helps to reduce water loss while also reducing anxiety.
