Why You Need a Skincare Plan & How to Start a New Skincare Regimen
The skin is the body’s largest exposed organ. Your skin works 24/7/365 to protect your body from the environment, including that pesky sun (one of the skin’s biggest enemies).
However, many still don’t give our skin the proper protection and maintenance to keep our skin at its best, or neglect it altogether!
Just like a complete nutrition and exercise plan to maintain your overall wellness and health, you need a thoughtful (and customized!) plan to keep your skin at its peak performance.
When Should I Start a Skincare Regimen?

One of the biggest reasons you should start a skincare plan as early as possible, but certainly by the time you’re in your 20s or 30s, is that once the skin has been damaged, it is much more difficult to repair than it is to protect it from the damage in the first place.
Plus practice makes perfect! Starting healthy habits and routines as a young adult can really set a great foundation for the rest of your life.

One step you can take on your own is to read up and learn as much as you can about how skin works - perhaps the most important aspect to understand are how the sun and time affect your skin, something we all have to deal with.
You might be wondering, how often should I see a dermatologist or skincare expert?
Good question, though the answer depends on you. For some, like those who have a history of skin cancer in the family, or are at a higher risk for skin problems, your dermatologist may recommend a visit every three or four months. For most though, an annual visit to the dermatologist is a good idea.
Your skincare expert can walk you through the proper skincare needed before or after any skin procedures you might be considering, as well as the correct order to apply your skincare products.
